Biology and Art - February 2023

This month’s contribution comes from Hana Berry, a third-year undergraduate student interested in hiking, photography, and playing the trumpet.

[11 February UNESCO - International Day of Women and Girls in Science]
I believe that women have a lot of creative ideas. They can be used in science, including biology. I study microorganisms. They are mysterious, unpredictable, colorful, and cute. So why don’t you join me in the journey of discovery of the secret life of plants and animals? See you soon at TMU.

The rules are simple: 5-7-5, there is no seasonal reference word (a kigo), but your poem must relate to either biology or the topic of the month, and you are writing in English.
Therefore, Hana’s haiku for this month is:
mysterious, colorful,
a girl in the lab.

WORDS to learn this month are: mysterious (神秘的な), unpredictable (予測不可能な), a journey of discovery (発見の旅), secret life (秘密の生活).
